“This is a tremendous opportunity for residents and businesses to conveniently and appropriately recycle the noxious materials that we often reluctantly keep around, and I hope we’ll be able to offer this service for years to come,” said  Shook  in a statement.

“We are excited to partner with two great organizations to bring this event to our community,”  Adrean said.

The EcoCollection will allow businesses and residents to do away with items they've wanted to dispose of but that aren't safe for regular trash pickup. Residents can dispose of expired medicine and old paint. The event will also offer the shredding of documents.

“Everyone has items around the house they’d like to get rid of but know they shouldn’t throw in the trash, like an old computer or that extra gallon of paint in your garage,” said Denise Starling, executive director of Livable Buckhead. “This is a great opportunity to dispose of those items ina way that is safe for our health and the environment.”

The drop-off location at 92 West Paces Ferry Road will be open to Buckhead-area businesses on Friday, March 25. and Buckhead residents on Saturday, March 26.

Organizers are suggesting a $20 donation for each vehicle that participates to help with the cost of disposal and recycling, the news release said. In addition, half of the proceeds will be donated to recycling education in Buckhead’s elementary schools through the IDBIDS program.

Organizers are also encouraging participants to bring food donations (canned, boxed or dry bags) to the site, which volunteers from the Atlanta Buckhead Chapter of AARP Georgia will collect to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Volunteers from AARP will also assist with the event.

Vendors providing disposal services  include Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Atlanta Recycling Solutions, EcoShredding, SP Recycling and Conservaprint, according to the news release.
