1. Fall Folklife Festival

When/Where: Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Atlanta History Center, 130 W Paces Ferry Rd. NW

Why Go: Traditional crafts, southern food and environmental sustainability are at the center of this year's Fall Folklife Festival at the History Center's Smith Family Farm.  Interact with local chefs and farmers as they discuss current culinary trends that focus on farm-to-table food practices and sustainability techniques.  Enjoy the sounds of local musicians performing sets of folk and bluegrass music.  Food and local beers will be available for purchase.

Price: $16.50 Adults. $13 Seniors and students. $11 4-12 years. Free to members; Buy Tickets

2. Get Fit and Support Bert`s Big Adventure

When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. , at Chastain Park, 4001 Powers Ferry Rd. NW

Why Go: Learn fun, family friendly exercises for a lifetime of fitness and support Bert`s Big Adventure. Meet in front of the playground.

Price: A Donation of $10 is requested per family, 100% will be donated to Bert`s Big Adventure.

3. Book Signing - A Light on Peachtree: A History of the Atlanta Woman's Club

When/Where: Saturday, 11 a.m. at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2900 Peachtree Rd. NW

Why Go: Meet local author Ann B. Jones, Ph.D, and hear her discuss A Light on Peachtree: A History of the Atlanta Woman's Club. Jones is also the author of the thriller, Tides of Fear, set on St. Simons Island.

4. 41st Annual Garden Hills Ice Cream Social

When/Where: Sunday, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Garden Hills Park and Pool, 355 Pine Tree Dr. NE

Why Go: This annual family event hosted by the Garden Hills Garden Club is open to the public.  Proceeds will support the construction of a pool house at the Garden Hills Pool.

The event traditionally features food for purchase, live music and arts vendors.

Price: $10

5. Music Midtown

When/Where: Friday and Saturday at Piedmont Park, 400 Park Dr. NE

Why Go: The two-day music festival features headliners Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters. The event features two stages, an artist market, food and drink.
