Historic Randolph-Lucas Mansion Not Moved Yet
Still no move for the rescued landmark.
Moving Day for the historic Randolph-Lucas House, recently saved from demolition, was scheduled for Saturday. However, on Sunday afternoon, the mansion still stood in its current location on Peachtree Road.
Buckhead Patch does not yet have details on when the home will be moved to its new location about two miles away at 78 Peachtree Circle in Ansley Park.
In May, NewTown Partners founders Christopher Jones and Roger Smith agreed to help move the home, which was scheduled for demolition, by the 2500 Peachtree Condominiums that sit directly behind it. Jones and Smith will use the home as their primary residence and have agreed to donate a preservation façade easement to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, ensuring that the house can never be torn down and that all future exterior changes or additions follow preservation standards.
When moved, the home will be horizontally split above the first floor, lifted by cranes and then transported on flatbeds.
