As July winds down to a close, no date has been set for the historic Buckhead mansion which was announced to be moved to Ansley Park this summer.

On May 30, Christopher Jones and Roger Smith on the new site for the historic Randolph-Lucas House at 78 Peachtree Circle in Ansley Park. The two men are the founders of NewTown Partners, an Atlanta-based development consulting firm focused on historic resources.

Jones and Smith were chosen as project partners after the Buckhead Heritage Society released its request for proposals from anyone interested in relocating the 1924 home, which was set for demolition. The home was designed for Hollins Randolph, the great-great grandson of Thomas Jefferson. The home was owned by Margaret Lucas until her death in 1987.

Currently, Jones, Smith and the Buckhead Heritage Society are coordinating the logistics for the move with the City of Atlanta Zoning Division and various utility companies, such as AT&T, Georgia Power and Comcast.

Erica Danylchak, executive director for the Buckhead Heritage Society, said the home is still anticipated to be moved this summer.
