The Week Ahead in Buckhead

You can help the Relay for Life, hear an author at the Shepherd Center, hear two other writers talk about education, stock up on clothes at a big consignment sale and attend the Galloway School's Black History Harvest Awards.

1. Eat out for a good cause.  California Pizza Kitchen will donate a portion of the day's take to the Relay for Life. Starts at 11 a.m. Tuesday at 3393 Peachtree Road NE. Free.

2. Book signing. Rachel Simon will talk about and sign her book The Story of Beautiful Girl at noon Tuesday in the Callaway Auditorium at the Shepherd Center, 2020 Peachtree Road NW. Free admission.

3. Two authors talk about education. At 7 p.m. Wednesday it's Tony Wagner, author of Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World, in McCain Auditorium at the Westminster School. At 7 p.m. Thursday it's Madeline Levine, author of The Price of Privilege and Teach Your Children Well: Parenting for Authentic Success at the Trinity School’s Allison Williams Activity Center. Free.

4. Spring consignment sale. The St. James United Methodist Church Kids’ Consignment Sale will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the church at 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody Road NE. Many items marked down 50 percent Saturday. Free admission.

5. Black History Harvest Awards. The Galloway School honors Dr. Tiffany Simpkins Russell at this annual event. Starts at 7 p.m. Thursday at the school at 215 W. Wieuca Road NW.
