Traffic Officers on Extra Duty at Lenox, Phipps During Holidays, Buckhead CID Announces

Hours extended during peak shopping times

Atlanta police officers have expanded their traffic-control duty at Lenox Square and during the holidays, the Buckhead Community Improvement District announced.

The off-regular-duty officers are directing traffic from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays on Peachtree Road from Lenox Road to Stratford Drive, the CID said. The officers will also be on the extra duty during the days leading up to Christmas. Traffic officers continue to man Piedmont Road and Roswell/Habersham road intersections during daily evening rush hours, the CID said.

In addition, BCID said that it has funded an open channel on APD’s radio network during the holidays to streamline communication between officers and private security services.
 
The BCID also announced that it has halted its Peachtree Boulevard Transformation construction until Jan. 15 to allow traffic to flow more freely.  However, it is continuing to install streetlights and repair sidewalks. , when t, reducing congrestion around the malls.
