Weekender: 3 Centuries of Independence Day Celebration


After all the Fourth of July fireworks and barbecues, you can still celebrate our nation's independence at The Atlanta History Center on Saturday, July 6.  Independence Day! Three Centuries of Celebration is a way to celebrate our nation's independence and history through activities, demonstrations, and performances that highlight Independence Day traditions from 1776 through today, like tasting hand-crafted ice cream or learning historic dances and songs. Free parking, food for purchase, and picnics welcomed. The festivities last from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 6.

Vizethann has found success in Buckhead with her relatively new restaurant, Buttermilk Kitchen. She is known for bringing that Southern homecooked flavor while using sustainable and local ingredients to make breakfast and lunch meals completely from scratch. The demo begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at  Cathedral of St. Philip.

Bank of America's Museums on Us, July 6-7
Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders can enjoy Independence Day this weekend, July 6 and 7, with free admission to Atlanta History Center and High Museum of Art.

The Breman Museum Presents: Jewish Women During the Holocaust, Memories and Reflections
Join Polish Holocaust survivor Norbert Friedman in a three-session exploration of the plight and heroism of Jewish women during the Holocaust. Mr. Friedman's deep interest in the unique challenges faced by women dates back to his personal experiences and observations while a prisoner of 11 different Nazi concentration camps.
