Candidate Qualifying Comes to a Close

Candidates seeking to represent the Buckhead area toss their hats into the ring for the May 20 primary and Nov. 4 general elections.

The weeklong qualifying period for candidates wishing to run in the May 20 primary and Nov. 4 general elections came to a close on Friday.

In U.S. Congressional District 11, where incumbent Phil Gingrey is vacating his seat to seek the seat that U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss is vacating, six candidates have qualified. They include, Bob Barr, Allan Levene, Edward Lindsey, Barry Loudermilk, L.G. “Larry” Mrozinski and Tricia Pridemore. District 11 includes Vinings and parts of Buckhead.

Lindsey is vacating his State House District 54 seat to run, and those seeking to fill his seat include, Republicans Beth Beskin, Loretta Lepore, John McCloskey and Angelic Moore and Democrat Robert “Bob” Gibeling. District 54 includes parts of Buckhead and Brookhaven.
