Independent Candidate Will Appear on Buckhead Ballot

There will be a three-way race to succeed Ed Lindsey in the Georgia House of Representatives.

The former executive director of Common Cause Georgia who is now running for Buckhead's state House of Representatives seat as an independent candidate has amassed enough signatures to appear on November's ballot, elections officials say.

According to Reporter Newspapers, Bill Bozarth collected 1,777 signatures from residents of House District 54. On July 17, Bozarth's campaign received word from the Secretary of State's office that he had fulfilled the signature requirement and would be placed on the ballot.

When Buckhead voters report to the polls in November, they will have a choice between Bozarth, Democratic candidate Bob Gibeling, and the winner of Tuesday's Republican primary runoff between Beth Beskin and John McCloskey. Beskin nearly won the primary without a runoff, and McCloskey has announced he is throwing his support behind his former primary foe.

The winner of the November election will take over the state House of Representatives seat vacated by Ed Lindsey when he made a bid for the U.S. House of Representatives.
