In a recent press release, it was announced that Nancy Coverdell, wife of the late United States Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA), has endorsed and joined the Committee to Elect Angelic Moore for State House.
Moore, a former 2004 Republican nominee for Fulton County Clerk of Superior Court, announced last year her candidacy for the State House District 54 seat that Rep. Edward Lindsey is vacating to run for the open 11th Congressional District seat.
District 54 includes parts of Buckhead and Brookhaven. Joining Moore in qualifying this week are fellow Republicans Beth Beskin, Loretta Lepore, and John McCloskey, in addition to Democrat Robert “Bob” Gibeling.
Qualifying closes Friday for the the May 20 Democratic and Republican primary elections. The announcement was made during an event at Hal’s on Old Ivy. Addressing the crowd that filled the upstairs dining room, Moore said:
“I am honored and humbled to have Mrs. Coverdell’s endorsement. I was exceedingly fortunate to know Senator Coverdell and for him to know me as a hard-working grassroots activist for his re-election campaign.
“What makes this even more special is the fact that Senator Coverdell and Mrs. Coverdell lived in Buckhead and before being elected to the U.S. Senate, he was the state senator from Buckhead. Senator Coverdell was a great leader and statesman. I will continue to work my hardest every day to make Mrs. Coverdell and all of our campaign supporters proud."
