6th Annual American Pops Concert

6TH ANNUAL
AMERICAN POPS CONCERT TO FEATURE TWO CHOIRS AND NUMEROUS MUSICIANS PERFORMING
PATRIOTIC MUSIC, BROADWAY TUNES AND GOSPEL FAVORITES    



On Sunday,
June 8th, at 4:00pm, Peachtree Presbyterian Church will present
their 6th Annual American Pops Concert in the Main Sanctuary located at 3434
Roswell Road NW in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood. This year’s event will
feature choirs from Peachtree Presbyterian and St. Paul’s Episcopal Churches, prolific
musicians, renowned soloists and special guests from throughout the region. This
year’s concert will include musical favorites ranging from Broadway classics to
Gospel favorites to a patriotic anthem, Armed
Services Medley
, which salutes our men and women currently serving in the
Armed forces and veterans.





Numerous soloists and young performers will display their incredible musical
talents throughout the concert. Ann-Marie McPhail (soprano), Jayme Alilaw
(soprano), Persis Bristol (mezzo soprano), Ingrid Cole (contralto), Chris Barry
(tenor), Nathan Munson (tenor), Marcus Hopkins-Turner (bass), Larry Jackson
(saxophone), Andrew Koonce (violin), Asia Charles (violin),  Yannie Tan (piano) and the St’ Paul’s Jazz
Trio are scheduled to perform.

This event will also feature the individual and combined handbell
choirs of the collaborating congregations offering various unique arrangements
of favorites including Chariots of Fire,
By and By
and A Star-Spangled Spectacular.





The combined choirs and several soloists will perform select classics
from Broadway stalwarts including Guys
and Dolls, Gypsy, Porgy and Bess, Purlie
and Ragtime

Gospel offerings will range from traditional to modern pieces including
My Soul’s Been Anchored, Guide My Feet,
Lord I Want To Be A Christian, Anticipation
and Days of Elijah.



Peachtree Presbyterian Church’s Director of Music Mary Hoffman and St.
Paul’s Episcopal Church’s Music Director Trey Clegg will share conducting
duties for most of the pieces being performed. Chris Barry and Heather Ellison
will also conduct select handbell offerings. Peachtree Presbyterian’s Principal
Organist Nicholas Bowden and featured Pianist Andy Bayles will also lend their
unbelievable talents to this annual celebration of music.  





Classical selections will include Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody, no.11 being performed by 13 year old piano
virtuoso Yannie Tan.





Everyone attending this event is invited to enjoy ice cream on the
church’s front lawn after the concert.





The concert is free to all who wish to attend. A free-will offering
will be taken to benefit the Peachtree Musical Ministry.





Nursery services for children 5 years of age and under will be
available during the concert at no-charge.





Free parking is available for all event attendees.
