Peachtree Creek Cleanup with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper

Peachtree Creek Cleanup with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper
Saturday, March 1, 2014
10am to 1pm
Cleanup Day Mission:Our effort will focus on Peachtree and Tanyard Creek that run through Atlanta Memorial Park, improving overall water quality and bringing awareness of and involvement in the preservation of our local creek and water resources. Both creeks funnel water from an immense natural drainage basin that serves some 55,000 acres of land ranging from Decatur to Dunwoody and are highly contaminated with garbage and debris.
Together we can do our part in preserving and improving Georgia's water resources as well as work towards making Atlanta Memorial Park Conservancy's vision a reality.

Atlanta Memorial Park Conservancy's vision to preserve and restore the community's water resource:The Atlanta Memorial Park Conservancy aims to create a Master Plan for the property that currently includes Bobby Jones Golf Course, Bitsy Grant Tennis Center and Atlanta Memorial Park (the “Park”). The Master Plan will focus, among other things, on solutions to improve conditions on those segments of Peachtree Creek and Tanyard Creek running through the Park, including storm water management and flood mitigation; restoration and preservation of creek beds to prevent further erosion; and management of sewer-related issues.
