Today on GoFundMe: Getting to Sundance

Each Thursday in December, Patch is highlighting an area fund-raising campaign.

Each Thursday in December, Patch is highlighting a local GoFundMe campaign in the area.

Today's focus is on "Sundance Bound," a page created by Rhonda Nicole Burnam, a creative writer trying to get to the Sundance Film Festival. Excerpts from the fund-raising page:

"During my journey I have written a few short stories, screenplays and stageplays. My ultimate goal is to write a screenplay that will be premiered at The Sundance Film Festival. Some of you probably have heard me say many times "I'm going to Sundance."

"Well, on October 31, 2013, I received one of many hopeful phone calls that will ignite my dreams to reality. A rep from Sundance Film Festival called regarding my application and that I'm a likely candidate to work the upcoming festival.

"The Sundance Film Festival is January 15-26, 2014 in Park City, Utah. This is a little over two months from now! After doing some research and crunching numbers it will cost approximately $3000 to make this trip."

Unlike other crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter, GoFundMe focuses more on helping people fund community or personal goals. GoFundMe is a Patch partner.
