'Heeling Diabetes' Auction to be Held July 14

The shoe and accessory auction's proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Eventista Productions and Grace and Peace Publications are partnering together again to raise funds for children affected by Type 1 diabetes. 

The partnering firms will host "Heeling Diabetes," a shoe and accessory auction with proceeds from the sale of over 200 shoes to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the worldwide leader in funding research to cure Type 1 diabetes.

The auction will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at located inside the , 3405 Lenox Road NE from noon to 4 p.m.

With the help of area businesses and residents, the event will benefit over 15,000 children diagnosed with the autoimmune disease yearly.

The firms' respective owners, Nyasia Bowen and Nadia Mathews, are seeking to secure donations from jewelers, new or unworn designer shoes and accessories as well as in-kind donations for the auction.

Bowen's diagnosis of diabetes has raised her awareness of the disease and spurred her commitment to help find a cure. 

The business owners hope to raise awareness about Type 1 diabetes and how to help children stricken with the disease through the Heeling Diabetes event. With over 40 new cases diagnosed in children each day, help is desperately needed.
