Amendment Mom

Mom's everywhere demand a change! We want to switch Mother's Day and Father's Day. You may ask why...Mom's unite for the change!

I demand a change!  I demand that Mother's Day and Father's Day switch places!

You may ask why??  And here I go...

As Mothers, our instinct is to make others happy, help them, celebrate them and think of how to make them feel awesome - and we are GOOD at it!  And so the problem arises...

On Father’s Day, dad’s everywhere are celebrated and loved.  Mostly this happens on the golf course with his other dad buddies.  You see, moms give dads the ‘get out of jail free’ card on Father’s Day to go do whatever they want to do...since there is no guilt allowed on this day, 5 hours on the golf course is an easy choice!  Another common Father’s Day celebration is the ‘Leave dad alone on the couch - he is watching TV’ or even better ‘Play quietly, dad is still sleeping’.  All of these are GREAT celebrations of dad, Mom’s everywhere would love to be celebrated this way...(do you see where I am going with this - wink, wink)

Mother's Day falls in May.  A beautiful month filled with blooming flowers, spring showers, playing outside, warm days and sunshine.  It sounds awesome, but on Mother's Day morning, most dad's make a costly mistake...they plan a BIG DAY WITH THE FAMILY!  Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE my kids and I love being with my family, but everyday Mother's are in charge of the family.  We make sure these machines runs smoothly.  On one day, we would like not to do that = Mother's Day (well, two days...our Birthday too).  We are quickly comforted with the statement from our good-hearted husbands that "everything is taken care of!"  We have an amazing breakfast in bed made by our kids (we do love that part) and are then told with by an adorable and excited kid that we are going to go to the park or zoo or children's museum...all of these are great ideas and wonderful places.  The problem is that THIS is not relaxing to us.  No matter how wonderfully you planned the day, we will find a gap somewhere and work hard to try and fill it.  We will stress about the parking because it's Sunday and near a church, we will worry if the kids have enough sunscreen on, we will over stuff our purses with snacks and bribery treats, we will be MOTHER'S!

For this reason I DEMAND we switch Mother's Day and Father's Day.  This is an important move for all dad's across the world.  For an entire year they have not had to think about what awesome thing to do for mom on Mother's Day.  If Father's Day came first, we could set a great example...

1.  Let mom sleep in (without kids crawling all over her)
2.  Dad and kids go to the park and leave mom alone (clean the house first so mom doesn't do that while you are gone)
3.  Send mom to the movies or to get her nails done with another mom friend
4.  Go do something on mom's to-do list without being asked
5.  Take mom out to dinner (and get the babysitter too)

Mom's don't need a lot of presents, not a lot of flare.  We just need something taken off of our plates.  Someone once said that they needed more hours in the day to finish all of the things they need to do - That is NOT TRUE!  If I had more hours in the day, I would just fill them with more things to do.  We are different - Men and Women, but together we can survive this crazy world we live in.  If we just know how to refuel each other, we can spend more time enjoying and laughing about our crazy lives...together!
