Could the SECRET to losing weight lie in your local pound?
If you are like many of us and you have been trying to drop a few pounds that you have picked up in the last year then you may want to pay close attention to this article.
QUESTION: How could my local pound help me lose weight? (As originally posted in the Lloyd Pro Group Blog.)
You can lose weight when the LOCAL pound is your local dog POUND or animal shelter.
I was reading this story on Fat Lesters Blog entitled:
Man’s Weight Loss Secret ‘Exposed’.
He tells the story of meeting a stray dog that would hang around his store for several days and wind up scaring his customers away.
It was quite evident that the dog had been abused in the past , as he would try to snap at anyone that would come near him.
Lester knew that the this would make her "unadoptable” according to the humane society.
Tell me... What would you do?
- Ignore it? Hoping the pup would move on in the night so that you wouldn’t have to deal with it any more.
- Call the humane society who would come “rescue” her only to euthenize her in a few days.
- Befriend it?
Lester chooses OPTION #3 and began the slow process of developing mutual trust between a man and his newly found friend.
Months later the two are a team taking walks together daily. (HINT: This is where the weight loss comes in!)
Lester tells an AMUSING story of fishing on the beach with his dog and almost losing his bathing suit because of all of the weight he lost! Be sure to read it here.
‘While certainly not a pleasant experience (briefly losing my britches in plain view of everyone on the beach), and without a doubt anything but a pretty sight (at least for most), the flip-side is that I’m in the best shape now that I’ve been in since my early 20′s, and I have my rescued dog to thank for it. All those walks, runs and jogs have definitely paid off in terms of my health.’
Could the SECRET to YOUR weight loss be sitting in your local animal shelter?
Lester gives this parting admonition:
“So, if you’re struggling to lose weight or have a desire to lose weight, are a responsible and caring person, and are not inherently lazy, you may want to consider visiting your local animal shelter and adopting a dog. This goes for anyone, including both men and women experiencing weight gain – so long as the individual is responsible and motivated enough for such a long-term physical commitment.”
We already know it is unhealthy to be overweight.
Otherwise we wouldn't be trying to lose it.
The "weight loss" industry is a billion dollar industry.
People try to lose weight by starving themselves, hopping on the latest fad diet, buying that new and improved exercise equipment from a late night infomercial or by joining a gym.
Sadly as we know often too personally, even with the best of intentions... it doesn't last.
Being overweight taxes and causes inflamation to our internal organs, contributes to diabetes and other serious illnesses and reduces life expectancy.
May you be blessed by adopting a pup that helps you to lose weight too.
