Clarence L. Rowland II, 72: Stockbroker, Trust Officer Traveled to Alaska, Antarctica, Africa

A memorial service will be held in the Wilson Chapel at Peachtree Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Clarence Leonard Rowland, II, 72, a resident of Belmont Village of Buckhead, died peacefully surrounded by his family, on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at Halcyon House.

Clarence grew up in Atlanta, was a graduate of Henry Grady High School, attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and was graduated from Southern Technical College. Following graduation, he served in the Army National Guard. His career began as a stockbroker at Courts & Company after which he moved to First National Bank of Atlanta, now Wells Fargo, as a trust officer.

Clarence enjoyed spending time with family, traveling – particularly to Alaska, Antarctica and Africa - Formula 1 racing, listening to Opera, and dining at Bones Restaurant. He was a lifelong member of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grattan Whitehead Rowland Sr. and Clarice Mewborn Rowland.

He is survived by his brother, sister-in-law, a nephew and niece plus several great-nephews and nieces, all of Atlanta and Michigan.

The graveside service will be private, but a memorial service, officiated by Dr. Stephen M. Huntley, Jr., will be held in the Wilson Chapel at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Road NW, Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
