A memorial service has been arranged for former Lovett student Hawkins Francis Wilber, 24, who passed away at his home in Atlanta last week.
The service will be held on Sunday, April 22, at 2:00 pm at The Carter Center.
Wilber attended the Lovett School where he excelled in lacrosse, football, and basketball and graduated in 2006.
"The Lovett community is deeply saddened by Hawkins' passing," said William S. Peebles IV, headmaster at the Lovett School. "He was a wonderful friend, teammate, and student at our school, and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wilber family during this difficult time."
Wilber was a 2010 graduate of The College of Charleston, studying abroad at the University of Innsbruck in Austria for a semester, and earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
In 1999, he helped Northside Youth Organization team win the Little League Georgia State Baseball Championship. He participated in Outward Bound, Moondance, the Lovett School's rainforest program in Ecuador, backpacking in Italy and walking across England last summer. He had recently moved back to Atlanta after his graduation and had begun a career in real estate.
Hawkins, son of Joe and Aidan Wilber and older brother of James Wilber, was born October 14, 1987.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, 175 Samaritan Dr., Jasper, GA 30143.
