$49,000 Rings Stolen, Switched Out with Fakes at Saks

Employees noticed the rings were fakes while showing one to a customer on July 10.

Just days after reports that police are looking for a man responsible for , police said that two rings valued at $49,430 were stolen from .

On July 10, loss prevention staff at Saks Fifth Avenue told police that an unknown individual switched the two high-dollar rings out of the display case with fakes.

The theft, which was believed to have happened between the evening of July 1 and the morning of July 2, was only discovered after an employee showed a customer one of the rings in question and noticed that it had missing stones.
