APD Hosts COPS At Lenox Square

The Atlanta Police Department and Community Oriented Policing Section will host an event at Lenox Square to raise safety awareness just in time for summer.

The Atlanta Police Department and Community Oriented Policing Section want people to be aware and safe as summer approaches. They're hosting a two-day event at to teach people safety tips and let them meet the local men and women in blue.

On May 22, the event runs from 4 to 9:30 p.m., while on May 23, it runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A command bus will be on site along with officers on foot and bike.

Two different initiatives are the big focus at this event: the and See Something Say Something Campaign. Clean Car Campaign is a reminder to people to keep a clean car by taking out all valuables--mp3 players, GPS devices, and so on--when leaving the car, or at least putting them in the trunk. against leaving accessories like headphones or the GPS holder in the car. See Something Say Something encourages people to call 911 if they see anything that looks suspicious. While in the end it may turn out to be a false alarm, the police are still willing and able to come check it out for themselves.
