APD Seeks Help Identifying 'Buckhead Bandit'

The suspect is thought to live in the area.

 

Atlanta Police are investigating a series of armed business robberies committed by a suspect, dubbed the Buckhead Bandit. Police have released the attached surveillance videos in hopes that the suspect may be identified.

The Buckhead Bandit, a black male suspect who is approximately 5-foot-7, is thought to have committed about 10 armed robberies in the area, including a pharmacy in Midtown and a Subway in Brookhaven.

In each of the incidents, the suspect is able to get away with $200 to $400.

"He's very casual. He seems to have committed this type of robbery before. He's not nervous at all," APD spokeswoman Sgt. P. Spann told WSB-TV.

During one robbery, the suspect is even seen talking on his cell phone.

The suspect has even returned to one of the stores he robbed as a customer, according to WSB.

APD investigators believe the man lives in the area because most of the businesses are within walking distance of each other.

Incidents

On Jan. 1 at 11:44 p.m., a black male suspect (shown in the attached surveillance video footage) walked into the CVS Pharmacy at 842 Peachtree St. NE and walked straight to the cash register and demanded money from the drawer while pointing a gun at the store clerk, according to the Atlanta Police Department report.

On Jan. 6 around 4 p.m., a black male suspect walked in to Walgreens at 2893 Peachtree Road and attempted to buy dog food, sanitary napkins, pork rinds, milk and another item. When his prepaid debit card was not approved, the suspect said he would return to purchase the items later. He came back around 10:28 p.m. and asked the clerk if she’d put his items away. As she bent down to get them, he brandished a handgun and demanded cash from the register. He told her to get on the ground while he left the store.

On Jan. 8 around 9:45 p.m., a black male suspect walked into the CVS Pharmacy at 3221 Peachtree Road NE. The suspect approached the register, displayed a firearm and told the clerk to “put it all in the bag.” The cashier handed over the cash and the suspect said “Feliz Navidad” before leaving the store, possibly in a white van.

 On Jan. 18 just before 7:45 p.m., a black male suspect dressed in all black with a white bandana covering his face walked into the Subway in Brookhaven at 3145 Peachtree Road. He pointed a gun at the employees, demanded cash and then fled on foot with the cash in hand.
