Atlanta Police Search for Suspect in Assault, Robbery, Car Theft

A Woodstock man answered a Craigslist ad that turned out to be a scam to part him with his wallet and car.

A Woodstock man was assaulted and robbed after being lured to a southwest Atlanta home through a Craigslist ad scam, and now Atlanta police want the public's help identifying a suspect in the robbery earlier this month.

Atlanta police released a series of security camera photos from a SunTrust Bank ATM near Greenbriar Mall. The suspect attempted to use a debit card stolen from the man at the ATM.

On Dec. 8, the victim traveled from his home in Woodstock to what turned out to be a vacant residence on Briar Ridge Way in southwest Atlanta, reported Sgt. Greg Lyon of the APD Public Affairs Unit.  The male victim had responded to an ad placed by a female in Craig’s List.

When he arrived, however, he was lured inside the residence by the female and then assaulted by two males.  He was struck in the face and kicked while on the ground. His wallet, cell phone, $100 in cash and 1996 blue Geo Prizm were stolen. The suspects gave him $2 and told him to catch a bus home.

The victim was taken to Grady Hospital for treatment.
