Blue Jean Ball on Oct. 22 to Support Crime Stoppers

Enjoy barbecue, music at Atlanta History Center's Tullie Smith Farm

Wear your denim, eat some barbecue and listen to music Oct. 22 at the Crime Stoppers' inaugural Blue Jean Ball.

The fund-raising event at the Tullie Smith Farm begins at 6:30 p.m. with a VIP reception, with the ball from 7-10:30 p.m., according to a news release. The band Livin’ Large will perform.

Tickets are individual, $100; couple, $500; or posse, $1,000. Sponsoship levels are sheriff’s deputies, $2,500; Texas rangers, $5,000; or U.S. marshals, $10,000.

Charlie Crawford, president of Private Bank of Buckhead, is serving as honorary chair, along with his wife, Ansley Byers Crawford. Event chairs are Sarah O’Brien, president and CFO of O'Brien & Co., and Brent Adams, senior banking officer at Private Bank of Buckhead, who serves on the board of Crime Stoppers.

Through the help of anonymous citizens and support from the Buckhead business community and individuals, Crime Stoppers helps the Atlanta Police Department solve crimes in Buckhead and throughout Atlanta.

According to a news release, the number of tips have increased 75 percent, from 843 in 2007 to 1,475 in 2010, resulting in more than 281 arrests, more than 20 illegal guns confiscated and more than $40,000 in recovered property and seized drugs. The average rewards paid for tips that get a murderer off the streets is $2,000, to solve armed robberies, $1,500; and $1,000 to apprehend a burglar.

The organizatiion also works with local schools through the Campus Crime Stoppers program.
