Buckhead Crime Blotter: Apartment Shooting, Money Stolen from 'Pictures with Santa'

Several residential burglaries occurred when the suspects kicked in doors and then stole valuable items from Buckhead homes.

The following police reports were filed Dec. 2-8 by Zone 2 of the Atlanta Police Department and submitted to Buckhead Patch. During this period, the zone filed 131 police reports. All information is presumed to be accurate. Buckhead Patch is providing some of the reports filed in this blotter. The full report is attached to this article.

During this period, there were six reports of residential burglaries, which occurred after doors were kicked in by the suspects. With 14 smash-and-grab burglaries and larcenies of homes and cars reported during this period, these types of crimes were the most reported in Zone 2 during this period. However, eight of the reported car break-ins occurred when the suspects simply entered through the vehicle's unlocked doors.  

Aggravated Assault 12/01 at 5 a.m.

Upon returning to her apartment, a woman found several bullet holes in the building at 1195 Woodland Ave. NE. Another resident of the apartment building said he was being shot at in front of the building and ran on foot to avoid being shot.

Residential Burglary 12/02 at 12:02 a.m.

An unknown suspect entered an apartment at 2400 Parkland Drive NE and looked to be masturbating before he ran out. The apartment doors were unlocked.

Other Larceny 12/02

Someone stole $100 from the "Pictures with Santa" setup at Lenox Mall, and a unit from Zone 2 responded to the scene. A manager said $100 came up missing at the end of the night, but she does not believe any of her employees would have taken money from the cash drawer.

Aggravated Assault 12/02 at 11 p.m.

A couple of roommates had an altercation that ended with one shooting at the other at the 2200 block of Bolton Road NW. The victim's roommate entered the apartment and began arguing with him before firing a gun at the victim nearly hitting him in the leg.

Larceny from Auto 12/02

Twice during this period, car batteries were reported stolen from a single site. At sometime between 1 p.m. on Dec. 2 and 6 p.m. on Dec. 3, four batteries were taken from the trucks at Penske at 1530 Carroll Drive NW. From 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 to 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 3, batteries were stolen from parked company vehicles at Peachtree Tents Events at 1422 Chattahoochee Ave NW.
