Buckhead Crime Blotter: July 15 - 21

Man arrested for holding victim at knife point; Purse thieves lead police on vehicle/foot chase.

The following police reports were filed Juy 15 - 21 by Zone 2 of the Atlanta Police Department and submitted to Buckhead Patch. All information is presumed to be accurate.

Aggravated Assault 7/15/12

A suspect was arrested by police at 1599 Howell Mill Road NW after he reportedly threw a knife at one victim and held another at knife point.

An off-duty officer was alerted late morning by staff of Louis Vuitton and Polo at Phipps Plaza, where two male suspects entered the location and reportedly took several purses before leaving without paying. The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle that was later learned to be stolen. Patrol units spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. While on the interstate, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and led officers on a foot chase. One suspect was apprehended after being pepper sprayed by police. All of the items were recovered and returned to the respective businesses. The other suspect had not been apprehended at the time of the report.

Larceny 7/19/12

A victim told police that he placed a boot on an illegally parked vehicle at 2115 Piedmont Road NE around midnight when a male and two females tried to negotiate a price to have it removed. The victim said that after telling the male the price was firm, he tried to remove the boot himself. At that point, the victim called the police. The victim, apparently having removed the boot, drove away with the boot inside his car.

Police responded to Chipotle, 3424 Piedmont Road NE, where a glass window had been broken out overnight. Cash register drawers were taken and officers reported finding bags lying on the floor nearby. There were no signs of force having been taken on the cash register.

Aggravated Assault 7/20/12

At around 2 a.m., a woman at Kamal's 21 strip club, 1905 Piedmont Road, told police that she was hit by a glass bottle — at which point she saw a female walking away that she had a previous verbal altercation with. The victim, who couldn't be sure who threw the bottle, had a laceration to her face.

Auto-theft 7/17/12

A victim told police that he had picked a male up in his vehicle around 3:30 a.m. and took him back to his apartment, 2430 Cheshire Bridge Road NE. When the victim woke up up later that morning, he discovered that his keys and vehicle were missing along with the person he had picked up.

Commercial burglary 7/17/12

Mellow Mushroom Pizza, 1770 Peachtree St. NE, was burglarized of two outside patio televisions overnight.

Larceny 7/21/12

Police were told a suspect came into the Texaco service station at 1888 Peachtree Road NW after 10 p.m. and took two 18 packs of beer before running out of the store. A witness was able to stop the suspect and get the beer back, although the suspect apparently got away. The same suspect reportedly stole two packs of beer on a previous day — a total of $100 in product. Police are reviewing security video footage.

Aggravated Assault 7/17/12

A man was reportedly assaulted by a suspect at Olde Town Tavern and Grille, 360 Pharr Road NE after 7 p.m. The victim said the male suspect hit him in the face with an unknown item, possibly breaking his nose.

Larceny from vehicle 7/18/12

A vehicle was broken into while parked at Frank Ski's restaurant, 2110 Peachtree Road NW between 8:48 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The rear window of the vehicle was broken out. Credit card forms, a laptop, phone chargers and $1,500 in cash had been taken.
