Buckhead Crime Blotter: July 22 - 28

Man beaten with crutches after having wallet stolen; man robbed of leaf blower; employee of Cactus Car Wash arrested for stealing pistol from vehicle.

Pedestrian Robbery 7/24/12

A victim was approached by a suspect, apparently on crutches, while inside the at 1688 Peachtree St. NW. The suspect was panhandling and asked the victim for money. The victim then opened his wallet to show the suspect that he only had $10. At that point, the suspect reportedly grabbed the wallet and fled the scene. A chase ensued and the victim was able to catch up to the suspect. During a fight between the two, the victim was reportedly hit with the crutches about the head, face and body by the suspect. The money and wallet were recovered, although it is unclear in the report if the suspect was arrested. According to the report, police viewed video footage that corroborated the victim's story. 

Pedestrian Robbery 07/24/12

A victim was robbed of a leaf blower while unloading his vehicle around 2:45 p.m. at 4201 Regency Ct. NW. The suspect, reportedly holding an unidentified object in his hand during the robbery, approached the victim and demanded the leaf blower.

Robbery 7/27/12

A victim reported that he was robbed at 475 Buckhead Ave. NE. At around 4 a.m., two suspects approached him and took $400. The victim's wallet, which included his debit card and license, was also taken. The report was unclear as to what weapons might have been used in the robbery.

Larceny by Employee at Cactus Car Wash 7/27/12

An employee at was arrested after he allegedly stole a pistol from a 2009 Land Rover he had just serviced. The pistol was found in the restroom of the business.

Auto Theft/Larceny 7/24/12

A victim told police that upon returning from an out of town trip he discovered that his vehicle had been moved to another location inside the parking deck, 700 Park Regency Place NE, where he had left his car. Unlisted items were stolen from the vehicle, although the keys were left inside the vehicle.

Larceny from Auto 7/27/12

A victim told police she had parked her vehicle on the third level parking deck of the JW Marriott Hotel, 3300 Lenox Road NE, overnight. When she returned to the vehicle, she found the driver's side door key hole and window damaged. Nothing was taken from the vehicle but while on the scene, police were approached by another woman that said her car was broken into as well. She told the officer that an injection device for growth hormones, valued at $650, was taken.

Fraudulent Check 7/28/12

An employee at PNC Bank, 2450 Piedmont Road NE, called police in regards to a woman cashing a fraudulent check in the amount of $3,790. The woman was later arrested, according to the report.

Auto Theft 7/19/12

A victim said she left her car on the side of the road at Howell Mill Road and I-75 S around 1 a.m. after running out of gas. When she returned later to retrieve the vehicle, she found that it was no longer there. After checking to make sure it had not been impounded, the vehicle was listed as stolen by police.

Aggravated Assault 7/28/12

A suspect was arrested and taken to jail for throwing a chair at a victim around 6 p.m. at 2294 Fairhaven Cir. NE.

Aggravated Assault 7/23/12

A victim told police he was hit in the face with a skateboard by an unknown suspect at 1850 Howell Mill Road NW around 12:30 p.m.
