A burglary was reported on upper Brighton Road this morning in the Brookwood Hills neighborhood.
According to initial police reports, the burglar entered the home not knowing that there was a person renting the basement apartment of the home. The renter heard the commotion upstairs and locked himself in the basement during the crime.
According to the Gregory Lyon of Atlanta Police Department, the renter, "heard some noise upstairs and called police. When we arrived, we discovered that the perpetrator broke a glass door in the upper portion of the home and grabbed a computer that belonged to the victim."
A BWH alert went out to local neighbors saying that, "a construction worker on Camden Road observed a black male in his 20s squeezing through the fence behind the Brighton home into the a backyard on Camden that backs up to the Brighton home. He then jumped into his car that was waiting on Camden and sped off."
The police department has not confirmed the description of the suspect or the car he was seen driving, but according neighborhood alert, "he was driving a white Dodge Stratus with Louisiana plates."
Officer Gregory Lyon confirmed that they are waiting for details on the computer in hopes of attempting to track it.
