Crime Blotter: Armed Men Steal Cash, Soaps and Tampons from Family Dollar Store

The following police reports were filed Jan. 20- 26 by Zone 2 of the Atlanta Police Department and submitted to Buckhead Patch. During this period, the zone filed 114 police reports. All information is presumed to be accurate. Buckhead Patch is providing some of the reports filed in this blotter.

Armed Robbery- Commercial 1/20 at 9:33 p.m. at Family Dollar at 2567 Bolton Road

Three men with handguns entered the location and told all the customers to empty their pockets. Then they demanded the store clerk open the cash register and safe and stole an undisclosed amount of money. Before leaving the store, one suspect walked around the store filling a bag with soaps and tampons. The suspects left the area in a blue Ford Crown Victoria.

Residential Burglary 1/24 at 2:45 p.m. at 1400 block of West Paces Ferry Road NW

An unidentified man entered the victim’s apartment through an unlocked window and walked into her bedroom while she was sleeping. When she woke up, the suspect asked for the victim’s ID. The suspect took the victim’s phone and then left the location.

Other Larceny at East West Jewelers at 3005 Peachtree Road NE at 1:40 p.m.

Employees said two men came into the store and were asking about different merchandise. After the men left, employees noticed that a diamond watch valued at $4,200 was missing. None of the employees saw when the watch was taken. Video footage was forwarded to an investigator.

Armed Robbery-Commercial at Subway at 4418 Roswell Road at 1/24 at 8:34 p.m.

A store employee was working in the back of the store when he heard the front door open. He went to the front of the store to serve what he thought was a customer and found a man wearing a ski mask. The man displayed a weapon and said, “Give me all you got.” The victim said he ran from the suspect and went to hide in the back of the store. The suspect jumped over the counter in an unsuccessful attempt to catch the victim, then the suspect fled the restaurant without any money. Video footage was turned over to investigators.

Robbery-Pedestrian at Bank at 2349 Cheshire Bridge Road 1/24 at 11:13 a.m.

A man was walking through the bank parking lot when a blue car with four men inside drove by him at a high rate of speed. One of the suspects snatched the victim’s shoebox from his hands. The shoebox held $300 cash, deposit receipts and one check inside.

Aggravated Assault 1/22 12:51 p.m. at Jungle Nightclub at 2115 Faulkner Road NE

A cab driver said two men dressed as women assaulted him. As the driver took the passengers to their destinations, they became belligerent and started yelling obscenities at him. Once they arrived at their destination, both men punched and kicked the driver causing a possible broken nose. The victim chose to drive himself to the hospital.

Other Larceny at Inserection at 1739 Cheshire Bridge Road NE at 1/25 at 4:35 a.m.

A man walked into Inserection and stole an adult toy and fled the store without paying for the item, which cost $666.95. The clerk, who was stocking shelves at the time, was able to get the suspect’s tag number and the incident was captured on surveillance cameras.

Other Larceny at Kroger at 1700 Monroe Drive NE at 1/23 at 12:26 p.m.

Just around lunchtime, a Kroger manager noticed a man take several food items and leave the store without paying. The manager called 911 and an officer noticed the man walking down the street with the food, including ribs. The officer placed the man under arrest and charged him with shoplifting.
