Here is the e-mail from the Garden Hills PTA:

THANK YOU GHES FAMILIES!!!

We raised over $2,500 for our 3 families who have been moved out of their homes due to the apartment fire on Lindberg last Sunday.  Thank you all for your kindness and generosity which I am sure will be most appreciated, especially during this holiday season.  Our families will receive your donations as soon as possible.

There were a total of 8 apartments damaged by the fire to varying degrees.  Three of the apartments housed GHES families with 6 children and 7 adults.  As best we know, there were 30 adults and 11 children in total affected.  GHES PTA has partnered with Passion City Church (remember they donated 75 volunteers and the rock wall for our Fall Festival) as they are best able to coordinate the long term commitment needed to help all the families affected by the fire.  They have already laid the groundwork, had a collection from their church and are planning to help for the long term with getting these families secured and started in a new home. We are so very fortunate to have these wonderful people helping our families in such a big way.

Passion City Church is willing to be the collection site for any clothing, shoes, personal care supplies and children's school supplies that are needed immediately.  We ask at this moment to hold off on any bigger or household items as our families are all living with friends and don't have any space to place those items as of yet.  I will be sure to pass on any details and information from Passion City Church as soon as I receive it.  Below you will find clothing sizes for our families and as soon as I get the sizes for the rest of the people displaced due to the fire I will let you know.
