Atlanta police say an armed carjacking took place in a Buckhead Loop retail parking lot shortly before sunrise on Wednesday.

According Officer Kim Jones, a man pulled into the DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse/Old Navy parking lot around 6:45 a.m. Shortly after exiting his vehicle, another vehicle approached and a man got out.

That man pointed a gun at the victim’s head and made him lay on the ground according to the responding police officer’s narrative. The man told police that the suspect, after pointing the weapon at him, “racked the gun and a bullet round fell on him.” The victim later picked up the bullet round off the ground.

A friend of the victim, who had arrived prior and was nearby, witnessed this and was told by the armed suspect to “get out of the [expletive] car” and give up his keys. The man, who also had a gun pointed at him, complied and the second suspect who was driving, jumped out of his vehicle and entered the second victim’s vehicle, a white Infiniti M37, and sped off.

The first suspect got back into suspects' vehicle, a BMW, and followed. There were no injuries reported.

The first suspect was described as standing approximately 5-foot-10 and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing with a black jacket and a hood over his head with a mask that covered his face except around his eyes. He was described as a light-skinned black male and appeared to be between the ages of 18 and 25.

The second suspect was only described as being around 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a late 90s model BMW 3 series two-door car.

A phone stolen along with the vehicle was later tracked to near the intersection of Fulton and Formwalt streets in southwest Atlanta, where it was found discarded in the street.

anyone else ever daydream about how great a city Atlanta would be if we somehow expunged these thugs? I mean, just imagine... parents could send their kids to georgia tech and not worry about their well being walking home from the library after dark... we could take walks after dark in our respective pricey intown neighborhoods without fear of a gun being pointed in our faces and our belongings commandeered.... we could attend screen on the green in the park and not worry about 13-17years olds robbing us...what a great city this COULD be.... alas, back to reality...time to make sure my security system is armed....
