No Injuries in Financial Center Fire

No injuries or evacuations were reported, and damage was limited to the garage area.

UPDATE:

This morning at 11:03 a.m., the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) was dispatched to smoke reported in the area at the Atlanta Financial Center, located at 3333 Piedmont Road NE.  The first AFRD unit arrived on scene in less than five minutes, reporting heavy smoke in the garage area at 11:06 a.m.

The smoke report was upgraded to a working fire, after which it was determined that a HVAC system, in the garage area was the source of the fire. Initial reports indicate that work was being done on or near the affected components.

The Atlanta Police Department is reporting a fire at the Atlanta Financial Center. According to the initial report, there is a room on fire in the "south driveway" at 3333 Piedmont Road NE.
