Fulton Deputy Accused of Fondling Women in Courthouse Offices

Fulton County Sheriff Deputy Nakia Dorsey indicted in sexual battery case.

Patch Staff Report

A Fulton County sheriff’s deputy accused of “groping” females while on duty has been indicted. Fulton County grand jurors returned a five count indictment on May 30, 2014 against 38-year-old Nakia Dorsey on charges of False Imprisonment (two counts), Sexual Battery (two counts) and Simple Battery (one count) in connection with two separate incidents at the Fulton County Courthouse.

The most recent incident occurred on May 30, 2012. The indictment alleges that Dorsey escorted a 27-year-old woman who was involved in a court case to a private office in the courthouse under the pretense of returning property to her. Once inside the room, the woman was fondled and, as alleged in the indictment, Dorsey exposed himself to the victim.

Dorsey is accused of then temporarily blocking a door to prevent the woman from leaving. The victim notified officials with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department shortly after the incident. The case was then forwarded to the Atlanta Police Department and later to the District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit.

Further investigation by the Atlanta Police Department revealed a previously unreported incident which occurred on October 3, 2011. The indictment alleges that during that incident, Dorsey took a 20-year-old woman who was also in court for a case, to a private office near the courtroom. He then allegedly detained and fondled her.
