Gas Main Leak Closes Section of West Wesley

Atlanta Gas Light crews on site in residential neighborhood

A gas leak Monday afternoon resulted in the closing of a portion of West Wesley Road for several hours.

The leak at West Wesley and Bohler Road resulted from a contractor hitting an unmarked gas line with his backhoe. The contractor, Patrick Simcock of Essential Excavation Contractors of Marietta, said he was digging a sewer line for a private home.

He said a water line and a gas line were marked but there was "another line beyond that not marked in the right-of-way."
