Hazmat Scare Closes Mt. Paran Road

Atlanta Fire and Rescue investigators have determined that there was no danger to the area.

A segment of Mt. Paran Road near Warren T. Jackson Elementary School was shut down Thursday morning after a "suspicious chemical" was reported inside a garbage truck.

Mt. Paran Road between Interstate 75 and Northside Drive was closed off as Atlanta Fire and Rescue crews attempted to determine what caused smoke to come out of the back of the truck when the trash was compacted and send a sanitation worker to Emory Hospital.

WSB-TV reports that investigators determined that there were no harmful objects or chemicals inside the garbage truck and re-opened the closed section of road shortly after noon.
