Head-On Collision on Peachtree Road NW Sends 2 to Hospital, 1 to Jail

The following arrest information was supplied by the Atlanta police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A head-on collision on Peachtree Road NW near Piedmont Hospital sent two drivers to the hospital, and later landed one of them in Atlanta City Jail on charges, according to an Atlanta police officers' incident report.

A motorist driving south on Peachtree Road NW in the right lane when a second vehicle driving north suddenly pulled into his lane, causing the two vehicles to collide head-on.

A witness who was following behind one of the drivers' vehicles confirmed what happened in the accident for Atlanta police.

Extensive damage was caused to the southbound driver's vehicle and his airbag deployed. The victim was complaining of chest pains and he was taken to Atlanta Medical Center by a Grady ambulance.

The other driver's speech was incoherent, and he was complaining of pain after the collision. He also was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for evaluation.

A half empty open can of beer was found on the driver's side of the vehicle that crossed the lanes of traffic.

After the second driver was examined by doctors, a blood test was done and showed signs of alcohol in the driver's system.

Bobby Teele, 45, of Pharr Road, Atlanta, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to maintain lane and driving with an open container inside the vehicle. He was taken to Atlanta City Jail.
