Man Convicted of Buckhead Kidnapping, Rape

The string of terrifying events began on March 18, 2013. The victim was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Peachtree and Roxboro Road when four men approached her car and asked for a ride. Before she could respond, the men entered her car and told her to drive around the Buckhead area.

At one point while the vehicle was stopped, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and another placed a knit cap over her head. She was then forced into the backseat of the car with Tims and another man. Tims and his accomplice took turns raping the woman and forcing her to perform various sex acts.

When the attackers were finished, they exited the car and told the woman she could drive away. The victim went home and immediately called police.

Two weeks after the attack, Tims called the victim and even texted a picture of himself to her. Tims was arrested a few days later. When questioned by police, he claimed he and the victim had engaged in consensual sex because they had a ‘connection.’

On Tuesday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shawn LaGrua, who presided over the case, sentenced Tims two consecutive life terms plus 70 years which will also run consecutively. Trial is still pending for co-defendant Steven Brown.

The case against Tims was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Edward Chase assigned to the Crimes Against Women and Children Unit with assistance from ADA Dexter Youmans and DA Investigators Takita Green and Governor Henderson. Detective David Remec of the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation.
