Mayor Reed Says 'Additional Measures' to Be Taken After Boston Marathon Bombings

What the "additional measures" entail has not been released.

Following , Atlantans looked ahead to the upcoming Peachtree Road Race.

When asked if Atlanta's police and first responders will increase security or change its protocols at the big race in light of Monday's tragedy, Atlanta Police told Buckhead Patch that a statement would be issued from the Mayor's Office.

At 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, the Mayor's Office issued the following statement:

"My thoughts and prayers are with the City of Boston today and all those who have been affected by today's tragic events. I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of life and injuries suffered by so many people. Here at home, the City of Atlanta's First Responders are currently taking additional measures to enhance the safety of our citizens and protect them from senseless acts of violence."
