Robbers Hit Mayors Jewelers at Phipps, Make Off with $22K Watch

Less than two months after a band of robbers made off with half a million in watches from Mayors Jewelers in Lenox Square mall, the prestigious jewelry store has been hit again at Phipps Plaza.

However, this time it was a single suspect. A man, described only as African-American, asked to try on a watch on Aug. 12 at 6:38 p.m. The man then ran out of the store while wearing the watch, valued at $21,600.

In June, five men entered the store. Two men smashed the glass cases with hammers while the others snatched about 20 watches in 30 seconds on a Friday evening.
