Silverware Thieves Hit Five Buckhead Homes

The suspect is able to take $75,000 to $100,000 worth of goods all while the residents are at home.

At least five homes have been hit by a serial burglar who is stealing silverware, according to Atlanta Police.

The homes are all in the same area around Tuxedo Drive and Northside Drive.

According to CBS Atlanta, the thief has been able to take $75,000 to $100,000 worth of goods all while the homeowners were still in the home.

What do you think about the silverware bandits? Does it make you fearful that the items were stolen while the homeowners were at home? Tell us in the comments below.

Police say the thief has quite a trained eye for what is "good silverware," and he leaves the other silverware behind.

Sgt. Greg Lyon of APD said the suspect has been "well-trained or well-educated" to know the difference between the expensive silverware and the less expensive, everyday silverware.

Additionally, the suspect or suspects appear to be professional thieves.

They are able to enter the home by using glass-cutters to remove panes of glass (all while the homeowners are home).

"He's someone who is very good at what he does. He's very meticulous. He's very quiet, very stealthy. You look at this person as opposed to say your average bungling burglar, and he's a professional," Lyon said to CBS.

Check back with Buckhead Patch later today for updates on the story from Atlanta Police.

Stealing is not a career. Northern Virginia had a gold/silver proprietor who acquired his merchandise by burglary. He did this for about 20 years. He was very very good at burglary, say the same "professional" status as this Georgia burglar. Now the Northern Virginia guy is in jail for life, while the owner of the last robbed home is dead.

That is my fear. I have to wonder what would happen if someone did hear this person and approach them. Is this person ready to kill the home owner? Obviously smart but too dumb to think ahead? How does he know who has silver and who does not?
