Buckhead CID Traffic Control Program in Piedmont Corridor Suspended

Off-duty officers needed for Occupy Atlanta security effort

The has been postponed indefinitely because of the Atlanta Police Department's security response to Occupy Atlanta.

A Buckhead CID announcement said that all officers have ben placed on 12-hour shifts indefinitely, including those working to control traffic along Piedmont, Roswell and Habersham roads.

"At this time there is no set date for this protest to end; therefore, the BCID off-duty traffic officer program is postponed until further notice," the Buckhead CID statement said.

has increased the APD presence around Woodruff Park downtown, where the Occupy Atlanta group has held its continuous demonstration. Reed has told the group it must vacate the park.

“We regret that BCID’s traffic officer program is impacted by the Occupy Atlanta demonstrations; however, we understand the safety of the greater community is more important at this time,” said Jim Durrett, executive director of the Buckhead CID.  “We caution Buckhead residents and commuters to exercise greater caution during the evening rush hour in the absence of our outstanding off-duty traffic officers.”
