Ceasar Mitchell Receives Atlanta Business League's Catalyst Award

The Catalyst Award recognizes the contributions of an elected official for his or her effort in enhancing opportunities for minority businesses.

From the Atlanta City Council

City Council President Ceasar C. Mitchell was honored with the Atlanta Business League’s Catalyst Award at its 36th Annual Chief Executive Officer Appreciation Luncheon held last month at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis.

Each year, the Atlanta Business League, the South's oldest and most influential minority business development and advocacy organization, recognizes local CEOs for outstanding participation in minority vendor development and community activities. ABL confers honors based in part on the willingness of extremely busy executives to take on work vital to carrying forward the ABL and business community’s agenda of establishing economic equality for minority enterprises.

The Catalyst Award recognizes the contributions of an elected official for his or her effort in enhancing opportunities for minority businesses.

Each year President Mitchell hosts his annual Back to Business Conference, a minority vendor development event in partnership with the U.S. General Services Agency. This year’s event takes place on August 19, 2014 and will connect local small and medium sized businesses with public and private sector buyers to network and learn about procurement opportunities. The primary goal is to help local, small, minority, women and veteran owned businesses increase their knowledge base, professional network and awareness of specific business opportunities.

Mitchell currently serves as the Atlanta City Council’s seventh president. Prior to his election, Mitchell served two terms as a Citywide Post 1 Councilmember. He advocates for safer communities, has championed key legislation facilitating economic revitalization of underdeveloped areas, and promotes environmental sustainability with green initiatives. Mitchell is a native Atlantan and practicing attorney. He and his wife, Dr. Tiffany Mitchell, have two daughters: Canon and Czarya.
