Georgia Senator Horacena Tate, a seven-term Democrat, appears to be cruising to an easy victory in the recently redrawn District 38, which includes portions of Buckhead and Cascade.
40 of 41 precincts are now reporting, and Tate has 79.58% to Crossley's 20.42%.
When asked by Patch why she wanted to be reelected, said, “Because there’s still a lot of work to be done.”
She's confident she can pull it off. "Anyone new would have to learn the landscape. I know how to get what we need. There’s no learning curve for me.”
Reginald Crossley, her challenger, is in charge of the Fulton County Youth Commission for the Department of Housing & Human Services. His job revolves around social issues facing youth such as drug abuse and gang activity. Crossley did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment.
No Republican candidate has yet emerged to challenge Tate in the November election.
