Ga. 400 Tolls Suspended for Week Beginning Friday Night

Plaza being converted to new Peach Pass system

From Patch Staff Reports

Buckhead drivers using Ga. 400 will get a one-week break from paying tolls, beginning Friday night at 8.

The State Road and Tollway Authority will convert the Cruise Card to Peach Pass, to allow drivers to use the card for both Ga. 400 and new I-85 HOV lanes. Upgrades will include new gate arms, automated cash machines and video cameras.

The toll is scheduled to be suspended from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. on July 1.

According to the AJC, Ga. 400 motorists collectively pay about $54,000 per day in tolls. Here is an Atlanta Journal Constitution article on the toll suspension, which also allows SRTA to technically fulfill a promise to stop the tolls after 20 years when the Ga. 400 extension through Buckhead first opened. The tolls were continued to pay for construction of the I-85-Ga. 400 connection in Buckhead.
