MARTA Giving Area Kids a Merry Christmas at Holiday Shop

Bicycles, toys offered Wednesday, Thursday

  is helping make the holidays bright for 4,000 metro area children at the transit agency's annual holiday shop Wednesday and Thursday.

The youngsters can select from thousands of gifts, including bicycles, toys and gift certificates for essential items, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at MARTA's Buckhead headquarters, 2424 Piedmont Road.

, and MARTA General Manager/CEO Dr. Beverly A. Scott welcomed families to the holiday shop beginning at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, MARTA said,

Each year, MARTA works with the Federation of Charities and United Way to invite area families to the holiday shop. Community efforts are coordinated by the MARTA Employees’ Charity Club, which established the Holiday Shop 15 years ago. This year, MARTA employees have pledged $675,000 to support more than 400 charities, the trransit agency said.
