Massell says vote will benefit Buckhead

Buckhead Patch asked Sam Massell, president of the Buckhead Coalition and former Atlanta mayor, for his response to the debt ceiling agreement approved by Congress and sent to President Obama to sign.

Because of the legislation, the United States will increase its debt ceiling and not default on its debts, as was feared.

Here is Massll's response:

"Politics is a process of give and take, mixed with considerable posturing. The more transparency we demand, the greater the volume of rhetoric, and the increased interpretation we do between the lines.

The superior organizational system of the Republican party resulted in the Democrats giving in to a larger degree, which means Buckhead — which is largely Republican — will feel its benefits in the long run. It’s not a perfect system, but we get by."
