Work begun on Pharr Road project

Company received bonds from Atlanta Development Authority

Work has begun at 235 Pharr Road, the site where 375 luxury apartments are to be built by JLB Pharr Road LLC.

A bulldozer was at work Thursday clearing a mountain of debris. The site is just of Peachtree Road, near OliverMcMillan's Buckhead Atlanta Development.

JLB Pharr Road received $62 million in bonds and $2 million in tax savings from the Atlanta Development Authority, a move that was strongly criticized by NPU-B and District 7 Councilman Howard Shook.

NPU-B Chairperson Sally Silver, who strongly criticized the ADA action, said in an e-mail about the construction, "Since they are building according to the zoning, and filed their application before SPI-9 zoning was in effect, they submitted their plans to the city and got approval. They did not require any variances or special exceptions, so they were not required to come before the NPU."
