APS Superintendent Search Committee Chooses Firm to Conduct Search

Nancy Meister, an APS Board of Education member representing Buckhead schools, hopes the committee has a search timeline to present at the board's March meeting.

The Board of Education for the Atlanta Public Schools has chosen members for its superintendent search committee, which recently approved a firm to conduct the search.

Earlier this month, board members approved the four members for the superintendent search committee. Board member Nancy Meister, who represents Buckhead’s North Atlanta High, has not responded to repeated attempts since Feb. 5 to reach her concerning the creation of the search committee.

A provision of his contract states that if the board finds and hires a new superintendent replacement, Davis' contract will expire within 90 days.

Meister said then: "We need to find a superintendent that fits our needs."

At a meeting of the North Atlanta Parents for Public Schools on Thursday, Meister said the superintendent search committee has chosen PROACT as the firm to conduct the search for a new superintendent and that she hopes the committee will have its search timeline ready to present at the board’s March meeting, according to a report from the Buckhead Reporter.

She also said that school board elections could pose a challenge for the search since many superintendent candidates “will naturally want to know who they will report to. There’s kind of a lot of unknowns out there,” according to the newspaper’s report.
