APS Superintendent to Meet with North Atlanta High Parents about Ousted School Leadership

Parents upset about the removal of interim principal Mark MyGrant and his leadership team are signing a petition calling for their return.

Parents at North Atlanta High School continue to question Friday's removal of interim principal Mark MyGrant and his school leadership team.

Some parents have started an online petition calling for APS to restore MyGrant's leadership team to the school. As of 9:20 a.m. Monday, it had 261 supporters.

Meanwhile, APS Superintendent Erroll B. Davis agreed to meet with NAHS parents Tuesday evening to talk about the transition, according to AJC.COM. The AJC report says the meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the high school.

The hiring of new principal Howard Taylor was announced earlier last the week. In a letter dated Oct. 5 and posted to the APS website, Davis said that MyGrant's last day would be Friday. Taylor is a principal in the Gwinnett County schools.

Many parents have been upset by what they see as an abrupt change in leadership, with MyGrant and the senior school leadership being asked to step down weeks before Taylor officially takes charge.

MyGrant spoke with WSB about the changes on Sunday and said:

"There (are) some strange dynamics occurring on the board and I can't help but wonder if that's where it's coming from. I think just personally it's just power and ego gone wild."

Time for Errol and Steve APS "officials" to get out...what duo of horrible people and leaders.

Comments within the "Downey" indicate the racism cited in the AJC articles is REVERSE racism, just in case you thought it was the usual fare. According to the blog comment(s), the retired/temporary/ now-fired (confused yet?) principal is holding evidence built up over time to indict the school system. Once revealed, his reasons for indicting portends to be the most interesting aspect of this story. Somehow you can't help but think there is a connection to the scrutiny on testing corruption. Maybe its simply "more news" that the Super would rather not have piling on. Maybe worse.
