Atlanta's New Hockey Arena?

Soccer field at Atlanta International School looked like an ice hockey rink last week. But on Tuesday, students returned to classes across Buckhead

With most of the snow from last week's storm at last melting away, Buckhead students returned to school Tuesday.

Students at the Atlanta International School returned this week to a staff that was ready to pick up where they left off  10 days ago, before Snowstorm 2011.

During the icy days last week Upper School students in grades 9 through 12  were scheduled to take exams.

"This week we're up and running and those students  began taking tests today," said communication spokesperson Courtney Fowler.

Meanwhile, Buckhead's Atlanta Public Schools students returned to class.

"I’m sure the teachers will spend a little while 'catching up'  but we’re hitting the ground running," said Dr. Sidney Baker, principal of Sarah Smith Primary and Intermediate Schools.

Pace, Lovett and Westminster students also came back to school.

"We'll get back into the groove pretty quickly," said Lovett headmaster Billy Peebles. "We've had to take back two holidays (President's Day and the Monday after Easter) but the parents already knew that."

On Tuesday, the Atlanta Police Department released final numbers from Jan. 9-Jan. 16: 10,590 total calls; 1,737 accidents/road hazard calls; and 276 accident reports filed.
