Garden Hills Elementary Appoints New Principal

Garden Hills students and parents received word last week that Tommy Usher, their interim principal, has dropped the 'interim' from his title.

Garden Hills Elementary School, which serves the Buckhead neighborhoods including Garden Hills, Peachtree Park, Peachtree Heights and Lindridge/Martin Manor, recently announced that Tommy Usher is its newly appointed full-time principal.

According to the announcement on the Garden Hills Elementary website, the school family is "thrilled to have him as our permanent principal and look forward to continuing the great work he has started with the Garden Hills Elementary School teaching staff."

Usher was appointed the permanent principal in January. According to the school's website, Usher is a big proponent of the IB program.

"I try to always exemplify a spirit that is caring, principled and open-minded. I believe these IB attributes are the characteristics that allow us to be a part of a shared human experience and make connections that really matter," wrote Usher.

In a post on Buckhead Patch, the Garden Hills PTA congratulated Mr. Usher, and stated that he "brought a wonderful enthusiasm to our school, and is working hard to bring additional programs to Garden Hills, such as Junior Great Books."
